Who are the children that we're helping through Hope Walks Davis?

girls
(Santhiya and Monisha in January 2010)

Hope Walks Davis is raising funds for 14 HIV-infected children and 12 uninfected orphans who are part of Sahaya International's programs in India with the organization READ. Several people from Davis have already been going over there and know these children. You can also go and visit them (click here for more information).

In particular, the proceeds of Hope Walks Davis are used for:

  • travel expenses of HIV-infected children to the government hospitals where they receive life-saving HIV medications
  • extra nutritional supplements for the HIV-infected children, because proper nutrition strengthtens the immune system
  • food, clothing, simple medicines, school tuition fees
  • part-time salary of a counselor to help these children also with their psycho-social needs.

Click here to read some of their personal stories, which will definitely touch you.
