Sahaya is sanskrit for "HELP" - by helping others, we enrich ourselves.

Through an act of kindness, each of us is a drop that creates a ripple.
For being part of this, we thank you!

April 2017:

We are proud to announce that "Healthcare Volunteer Uganda" (HVU) is now also one of Sahaya's partner organizations.

"Eggs for education"

Nutritional egg supplement program in our schools in India:

egg program

Many children in rural India don't have a diet that contains enough protein. Therefore we started a program in which we try to supplement that lunches that the children bring from home with an egg. Giving a boiled egg to 420 children costs only $40. To learn more or to help, go to www.sahaya.org/nutrition.html.

Update: training of farmers in modern crop production technologies:

For the past few years we have started to prepare for a new program with our partner organization READ: the introduction of modern crop production techniques, that give these advantages:

  • Increased crop productivivity per acre of 200 to 500%
  • Reduced food prices, making quality food more affordable by poor people and thereby reducing malnutition
  • Improved quality of agricultural produce including nutritional value and shelf life, which benefits people and animals.
  • Reduced poverty among farming families
  • The increased economic capacity of the farmers will over time also lift up other sectors of the local economy.
  • Eco-friendly farming methods will lead to better protection of the environment.
  • Improved sustainability.

Sahaya Walks 2015

SAHAYA WALKS (previously called Hope Walks) is a family-oriented annual event to celebrate that we can make a difference in the lives of HIV-infected children and orphans in the programs of Sahaya International in India. This year marked the 10th edition!

100% of the proceeds of this annual event directly support 33 HIV-infected children and youth, who are part of our programs with the organization READ in India.

We have currently raised approximately $10,900. You can still contribute to this campaign. To learn more, visit www.sahayawalks.org.

We thank our many sponsors, including Preethi Indian cuisine which provided lunch to all participants.
