One of our next goals:
Constructing a 2nd level on the Mother Teresa School
In 2008, we completed construction of a one-storey building for the Mother Teresa School of Periykrishnapuram. Local carpenters are now making desks and benches, which are expected to be finished soon. We sincerely thank everyone who donated money to accomplish this monumental task!
The school is providing basic education to 157 children from poor families. However, because the school has 4 classrooms, it has become overcrowded. The kids urgently need more space, so we need to construct a 2nd level on it (according to the same design as the picture below of the Jawahar Matriculation School). The estimated price is approximately $50,000. We have already raised $1,500.
Will you help us? Please consider making a contribution.

Since July 2009, we have raised sufficient funds for desks and benches for all classrooms of both the Jawahar Matriculation School and the Mother Teresa School. On the right is an example of the desks and benches that a local carpenter is currently constructing. The price per set is approx. $100. Each set can accommodate 4 children, so the price comes to $25 per child.
Now we are raising funds for educational materials (books, science objects, art supplies) and other furniture (book cases, cabinets, etc) to store such materials safely in the classrooms. Can you help us? Then please consider making a contribution to us.

We thank everyone for their support and efforts to raise the funds! |

On 24 October 2009, at over 5200 events in 181 countries, people came together to speak with one voice on the most urgent issue of our times: the climate crisis. Through http://www.350.org, people in every corner of the planet coordinated the most widespread day of environmental action in the planet's history. The children of the Mother Teresa School and Jawahar Matriculation School also participated in this call for strong action and bold leadership on the climate crisis.
The school children were also featured on the 350.org website including the video documentary:
By the days end, it was clear: people of all kinds in just about every place on earth are calling for a fair, ambitious, and binding global climate treaty.
